Red Meat Kills? It's Flagrant Bias That's Killing Me... - Dr Briffa's e-newsletter - 16th March 2012

Dear Kelley

Red meat kills? It's flagrant bias that's killing me...

This week the media has been awash with the results of a study which found a link between red and processed meat and enhanced risk of death. In one of my blogs this week, I explain why such evidence is fundamentally flawed, though the study authors appear to be blind to this. I also explain how the authors have used selective and inappropriate citing of the evidence to support their case. A prominent doctor in his commentary which accompanies the study does precisely the same thing. To see why rampant bias seems to be at work here, click this link.

British Medical Journal columnist holds doctors to a higher standard

Dr Des Spence is a British doctor who writes a column in the BMJ and does not usually pull punches. Recently, his column focused on the fact that many doctors receive undisclosed payments from drug companies and medical device manufacturers that can corrupt medical practice. To your good health!
