Simply Angie If you’ve followed my writing for any length of time, you’ll know that my husband and I have served as missionaries in Australia for nearly 29 years. For the past 19 of those years, we’ve lived in the same little rental home out in the country—a humble, well-worn place that’s been the backdrop to decades of life and ministry. But recently, things have changed. About a month ago, our landlord passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack. And two weeks later, his heirs informed us that we would need to move out. Just like that, we were given 90 days to sort, pack, and move twenty years’ worth of accumulated ‘stuff’ and ministry tools—all while navigating some ongoing health concerns for my husband. To be honest, it’s been a lot. He’s on the surgery waitlist for a double hernia, which limits what he can physically do. The rental market in our area is extremely limited and prices have surged; rental homes are now nearly double what we’ve been paying. Finding something suitable, affordable, and available is no easy task. At first, panic threatened to set in. But we quickly reminded ourselves: none of this was a surprise to God. While we may have been caught off guard, He wasn’t. And day by day, He’s been proving that again and again. We asked our friends to pray, and I know they have been because we are experiencing the results. God’s Faithfulness, One Step at a Time In the past week alone, we’ve seen Him work in ways we couldn’t have predicted. People have come by to buy items we needed to sell—and they’ve offered to help with things we couldn’t move ourselves. Items too heavy for Don to lift were carried off by someone we’d never met before, simply because they showed up at the right moment and were willing to help. Then came a call from the doctor’s office: Don’s case had been upgraded, and his hernia surgery is now scheduled for August 6th—an incredible answer to prayer. That gives us a few more precious weeks to do the heavy work before he’ll need time to rest and recover. Yes, it’s still overwhelming. Yes, we still have big hurdles ahead. But God is meeting us here—in the middle of it all—and showing us that what’s impossible for us is still completely possible for Him. Walking by Faith I don’t know what your situation looks like right now. But maybe you, too, are standing in front of something uncertain. Maybe you’re facing a closed door, an unexpected change, or a burden that feels too heavy to carry. I just want to remind you that you’re not alone. Our circumstances may differ, but as believers, we all serve the same faithful God. He still makes a way in the wilderness. He still parts the sea. And He still shows up when we can’t see a way forward.
So we’re taking this journey one step at a time. And while we still don’t know exactly where we’ll land, we know Who is leading us. That’s more than enough. A Note for Fellow Believers If you’re a praying person, we would so appreciate your prayers—for strength, wisdom, and provision. Pray that God will continue to open the right doors and give us clear guidance in the weeks ahead. It’s unsettling not knowing exactly what’s next, but we’re trusting God to go before us and prepare the way. As we continue to seek the Lord’s direction about where He would have us live next, we’re also praying that He might open a door that allows us to continue the ministry here in a way that’s sustainable for the long term. I’ve had a quiet thought in my heart that I wanted to mention—just in case the Lord is prompting someone already. ☺️ If, by chance, you’re someone whom God has blessed with means, and you’ve ever considered investing in property in Australia, here’s a small idea: perhaps the Lord might lead you to invest in a home that you could make available for use by a missionary couple (like us! 😊)—combining earthly and heavenly rewards at the same time. I share this only as a passing thought, knowing that if it’s of the Lord, He’ll stir the right hearts. Closing Thoughts In times like this, I’m reminded again that faith isn’t just for the mountaintops. It’s forged in the valleys, refined in the fire, and deepened when we keep walking even when we can’t see where the road leads. So if you’re in a season of uncertainty too, let’s keep walking together—one step at a time—trusting that God is making a way. With love and faith, P.S. I always love hearing from you—whether it's a word of encouragement, a shared experience, or how God is working in your own life right now. Feel free to leave a comment or share this update with someone who might need a reminder that God's hand is steady, even when the path feels uncertain. Talk to you again soon. Can’t wait? |
