Simply Angie Today, I wanted to share another favorite poem from my youth that made an impact on my heart. Sometimes an old memory surfaces at a time when we need a boost in spirits or a timely reminder. This week, I’ve found myself thinking of a poem I first learned back in high school—one I used to recite in competitions. It’s called The Touch of the Master’s Hand, believed to be written by Myra Welch. Even as a teenager, this meaningful poem stirred something deep in me. Now, all these years later, it still holds encouragement and inspiration. 'Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer The challenges and failures of life can sometimes leave us feeling worn, ordinary… or even worthless. We may feel like there’s nothing special about us, that we’ve made far too many mistakes, or that we have nothing of value left to give. But just like the old violin in this poem, it’s not our outward state that determines our worth. It’s Whose hands we’re in.
When we place our lives in the hands of the Master—the One who created us, who sees worth even when others don’t—everything changes. He restores, renews, and redefines. And that’s true not just for ourselves, but for how we view others. When we remember the touch of the Master’s hand in our own life, we’re much more willing to see broken, hurting people with compassion instead of judgment. Blessings, P.S. Did this poem stir something in your heart like it did in mine? I’d love to hear your reflections—or feel free to share this with someone who needs a reminder today that they’re not beyond the touch of the Master’s hand. 💛 Talk to you again soon. Can’t wait? |
